TYPES OF INDEXINGTHUMB CUT INDEXING Thumb cuts are half moon radius’ available in the following sizes: 3/8", 7/16", 1/2", 5/8" and 3/4". Tabs are available in the same sizes. Here are two examples of Thumb Cut Indexing; single bank and double bank. Half circle (half moon) cuts are made into the book to expose the tab at a page specific location. Tab descriptions may be printed on the text or can be applied. Examples: dictionaries, bibles, medical books, directories. EUROPEAN THUMB CUT INDEXING A unique style of thumb indexing cutting a radius through the book to the specific page. Available in 12mm or 1/2", 14mm or 9/16", 16mm or 5/8", 18mm or 3/4", 20mm or 13/16", 22mm or 7/8" and 24mm or 15/16". Again, the tabs may be printed as part of the text or applied. The two illustrations of European Thumb Cut Indexing show single bank and double bank. Examples: reference books, medical books, catalogs, brochures and annual reports. STEP INDEXING Available in several different options, Step Indexing can be done on any bound product to make the book user friendly for quick, easy access. 90 degree, 110 degree, double radius or straight cutting dies are available to cut single bank, double bank, corner step, and full cut front edge step. Examples: telephone and trade directories, annual reports, catalogs, brochures, address and appointment books, diaries, planners and blank books.
