HOW TO ORDER

It is important to remember that all indexing is cut from bound and trimmed books.

  • If paper covered, the book should be furnished with a paper cover affixed.
  • If hard or flex covered, Ross Gage can work with book blocks or finished books.
  • If we are to index case bound books, the books must have a good flexible joint so that covers can be folded back.

STYLE AND DESIGN COMMENTS

While style is a matter of personal preference, certain guidelines are of help to maximize the effectiveness of indexing.

  • Begin by giving thought to what you want to accomplish by indexing.
    • Ease of use.
    • Highlight certain important areas.
    • Help organize.
  • Put yourself in the users eye...see the product as the user sees it.
  • Generally speaking, the larger the book, the larger the diameter or tab area should be.
  • If a product contains advertising (such as a telephone directory), consider placing ads or important information on the lead or first page of the tab—it’s the one with the greatest exposure.
  • If a diary or address product, consider having Ross Gage print the tab copy after tab cutting. This assures perfect register and a professional looking product.
